There is a book in The Library of the Lost. In a way, it is The Book of this long sought after library: a multi-volume set. The binding methods span the ages- the first in bone slats hinged by lovingly replaced red string, later volumes in papyrus scrolls. (We will not speak of the clay tablets in the basement.) Most of the great book, sprawling over many shelves and rooms, the life’s work of countless librarians of this institution, is bound in paper. The Book of Accidentally Deleted Chapters.

The rules for inclusion in the book are strict. The rules of The Library of the Lost always are. This is where your chapters go if you destroy them unintentionally. This must be the fault of the author— not of some later catastrophe. Somehow highlighting the entire document, typing some nonsense then closing the application so you have no recourse to “undo” — no document history ..,since you were writing on a phone.

      Gone forever. Or no?

This is where those chapters go.
