That honestly makes me want to buy the game. Sadly, it's not really a genre I enjoy very much.

They added difficulties now so lots more people are getting into it even if it's a souls game. Some of the bosses are really cool and the dlc adds some of the best bosses I fought. I can definitely recommend at least trying it if you can afford it

This isn't even something you should be doing for your devs just because being nice to them is nice. So many indies on their second and third games are showing that once you get the ball rolling on institutional knowledge (skills and tools developed during the making of a game, contributing to the next) you can SERIOUSLY up your game. And for a lot less cost than it would have been to go that big from the start. Meanwhile big studios are dumping staff and therefore expertise like it's no big deal. Switching to a revolving door of subcontractors who can't possibly get to intimately know the games they work on.

Its this short-term cost cutting/outsourcing thats plaguing everything these days. In my own industry i've seen massive brain drain and decline in quality/morale as people are driven away since the bottom line is in conflict with worker motivations. Its good to see stories like this where people are taken care of.

I'd rather have a bigger bonus than a switch 2 but I guess it's better than layoffs

It's literally in the title that they also received 7500$ bonus. Or is ignoring everything just to complain a cool thing to do still? (Also 2 weeks paid time off, but hey, I'm sure that's normal for most jobs)

When they add the ability to pause in I’ll give it a look. Now that I have kids playing games that don’t let you pause is impossible.

They're saying they'd rather have had the money that went towards the purchases of switch 2s left in the form of cash, rather than spent for them. It's a relevant critique because with their latest releases, Nintendo's doing the same 'cost increase to the detriment of employees and customers' dance as the other big gaming corpos. A person can agree something is better than the horrible baseline, and still bring up a topic of discussion on something that isn't great. Also, re: 2 weeks paid time off; look outside of 'Murica once in a while. The global average of paid days off is ~25. So 2 weeks, while lovely for America, is below normal.

Not American. Also, assumed that was on top of the ones from the contract. Being forced to use 10 days of my vacation time when they want me to isn't much of a bonus. And yeah, I guess being given the option of cash vs switch would be cool, but when the bonus is 7.5k + 2 weeks off + more bonuses announced for later on, it feels a bit shit to complain about a free switch. Especially when you can just sell it to get the money.

I'm saying I would rather have the value of the switch as more cash tacked on to that bonus. even if I worked at a game studio it doesnt mean I want to have a console without its overpriced games. but since I'm pissing off nintendo slave-fanboys anyway, I suppose if it was received close enough to the release date of the switch2 and if I was fast I could potentially scalp it for more than the original cash value

The other stupid part is that these companies are training their developers to create AAA games, and then firing them. They take this knowledge elsewhere and the investment is lost. AAA game companies are paying to train other companies developers.
