I think this was always true to some degree, but the quality of information and images people can access is much more variable in quality online and through social media. By quality I don't even mean .... it being educational or politically informative or enlightening. I just mean basic things, like it makes sense, the images are ... real. Things presented as facts have some relationship to the truth.

A substantial number of people are very happy to consume high octane hallucinated AI-fueled nonsense. And anyone who needs to fill anything with "content" is happy to just keep on piping out garbage.

I'm talking about things like this:

This video about trilobites is adjacent to something I might watch. I don't even have very high expectations. Just show me some photos of fossils and talk about them. (Don't watch it if you get sick easily.)
