    Fellow cat owners. Do any of you have a cat who is... standoffish about seeming to eager or excited about getting things that they like?

    For example if I make box for Pica to hide in she will look at it and pointedly walk away... (but, then go in it later when I'm not looking.) Same thing with food.

    In fact, if you watch her? She's not going to try anything you offer her no matter how much she loves it.

    Maybe she's just too nervous, or it's part of her "imperial" bearing ... who knows.

      The cat sitters called me because I wrote a note saying "she really loves churu treats, goes nuts for them always eats them" but she did the "Pica thing" and walked away so they thought she didn't want it.

      But I know if she likes something she will walk away, circle around and come back. So they were confused.

      Sometimes I think she just likes to maintain control. Not feel like these humans have her number....

        @futurebird Oh yes. Our younger cat has zero chill, makes a fool of herself over anything she wants, but Dolores feigns impassivity. She can't control her little sniffy nose or the tips of her ears, though.

          @carrideen

          It's exactly this with Pica. I can't prove that she doesn't want to seem "overly pleased" but that's how it feels.

          But I can tell when she really likes something and will come back to it right away as soon as I leave her alone and seem disinterested.
