Good morning, #Halifax.

I forgot to keep this #Halifax thread running but I'm learning about our local hockey team now, the Halifax Mooseheads: http://halifaxmooseheads.ca/ -- and since they are QMJHL and not NHL no one here cares when I mention the Caps winning the Stanley Cup last year.

Just noticed the wedding apparel and adult sex toys store are right beside each other on NS Trunk 7 in Dartmouth.

Today I learned about the SS Daisy, an old British navy trawler whose rusting hulk now forms part of the Dartmouth shoreline along #Halifax Harbour near the MacDonald Bridge: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/mystery-ship-ss-daisy-halifax-harbour-dartmouth-newfoundland-1.3579257

I’m getting used to the ou’s in Canadian spelling but come on Canada this is totally unnecessary

The Wave at #Halifax Waterfront. Officially, you are not supposed to climb and slide down The Wave, but since so many people do it anyway there is a soft safety foam base surrounding The Wave. I am told it is also called The Danger Wave.

Found another Filipino food market in Dartmouth NS with bags of vegetarian simulated pork rinds. (Made of green pea and rice rusks with flavouring)

Today in extremely Canadian living, I just got some free health care and then bought a Tim Horton's Regular (i.e. coffee with one cream and one sugar; the double double is way too sweet for me) with a "Farmer's Wrap" which is just a breakfast wrap with an added hashbrown and spicy mayo.

Fascinating thing about #NovaScotia geology: Halifax sits atop what's called The Meguma Terrane, the remnants of a prehistoric subcontinent that used to be separate from North America: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meguma_terrane — Meguma is joined with the distinct northern Avalon Zone along a nearly horizontal fault line that you can trace from Cobequid to Canso. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meguma_terrane
