@futurebird How the heck would you teach that in school? Do it once, so the students have seen the forms? Maybe. A waste of time, if they have any capacity for independent thought.

@toni @futurebird Yes no maybe. There *is* at least two more layers to it: One the one hand a base competency and trust in one's own base competency in order to not be scared by form fields for "Sonstige Einkünfte die dem Progressionsvorbehalt unterliegen" (sorry non-Germans, best not to translate), and on the other hand the approximate knowledge what this field wants which does involve an approximate knowledge on how taxing works.

@henryk @futurebird Yeah that’s true. The first few times use training wheels in the form of an independent tax software, which explains in plain language what that approximately means. After doing that a few years, I had enough self confidence to get by without it and be sure enough I won’t land in jail.
What you need to teach is the ability for problem solving and becoming confident in your skills. Not an easy job, but much more useful than tax code.
