@futurebird It's been out of circulations since 2012 for Canadians, and my friends still have large penny cans/jars. Unlikely to be valuable for quite some time.

@futurebird my parents still have a jar of 1 and 2 cent coins from when they went out of circulation 30 years ago here, at least last I checked. But I think this kind of hoard, where it's created by the lowest denomination coins becoming valueless, only starts being common with fiat currency

@futurebird I mean, its like free beanie baby day for the coin collecting community I imagine. I only have a modest collection but I have a superstitious impulse to "if I find a penny pick it up" so its probably the moment in history where I decided it could be very affordable to collect coins.
