Do any of you have interesting ceilings?

Do any of you have interesting ceilings? Have you painted the ceiling in a room with a cool color or pattern?
Our flat has curved walls: such a cool architectural detail but you don't really notice it.
I think painting the ceiling a contrasting color would make the curve stand out against the white walls.
Black: like a night sky. But could look cheap goth if done poorly.
Light Teal: Cute, it's like the sky. Could be TOO cute.
Chartreuse: MAYBE?@futurebird I painted the ceiling in our bedroom dark blue/navy and the idea was to add stars (using a proper map of the night sky for here) with glow in the dark paint. I've been living in this apartment for 8 years now and have never added the stars. But the spider webs are very visible against the dark blue

I like that idea a lot!
I'm going to drop this into the compost heap of the plan where it can ferment with the rest: You could also not paint it one block of color... instead maybe do a geometrical pattern, or give it "animal print" but in the color of your choice, or even two colors in an organic looking pattern or a strict organized pattern?I don't think I have the skill to paint anything complex that is that large.
Maybe get one of those wallpapers of space from the 90s? We had a wall in our house that was the earth from the surface of the moon (my dad thought it was hilarious) I loved that wall.
Problem: wallpaper can be a little shiny, not ideal for a ceiling. I think ceilings need to be matte? Maybe?
My dad said "this is your natural habitat" and ... hurt a little... because was true.

Our ceiling is fairly high ... so I don't worry about making it feel bigger. The black worries me because black paint can look messy if not done just right.

Did it make the room feel smaller or larger?
Did you use a matte or semigloss? How do you like it after some years.
We do not kill spiders in this house so it's good to know they liked it.

Chartreuse: MAYBE?@futurebird I really would advise against making it completely black. From time to time I browse houses (because I can't afford to buy one) and sometimes see black walls or ceilings. Always depressing, imho. Wallpaper is probably difficult with curved walls, probably, but maybe you can look for an artist to do it? Some artists make the most beautiful wall art. Or do the night sky, but through smaller painted windows?

Hmmm I wonder if white walls would mitigate that? But I do think black makes spaces more "cozy" or "dungeon like"
Now chartreuse... it would "match" with some of the other things we have going on. And I think it would look great around the tall skylight hole in the kitchen.
Good observation.

Ok, Shakespeare.
(every time I see white walls with beams like this that's all I can think of.)
Is that natural to the building or did you add it?
