Football games died with PES, unfortunately. I'll keep an eye out of general interest, but I don't trust a non-Japanese developer to pull it off. They're highly likely in it for unethical reasons—e.g. ultimate team-like gambling that exploits kids.

This is going to be some serious AI slop, isn't it?

I mean, hate is a pretty popular Saudi royalty pastime...

PES died? It was fantastic. You had to pass or cross to work openings. Not run straight through teams with Messi.

It's eFootball now: free to play, optimized for mobile, heavily monetized, no career mode, and gameplay is a shell of PES. Primarily designed around Konami's equivalent to EA's Ultimate Team. Last PES was 2021, and modders are still updating it. Modded 2021 is called SP Football Life.

Appreciate the info. I still play 2018. Might try and grab a version of 2021. Such bullshit.

SP Football Life is PC only, unfortunately. I'm not aware of any modding scene for Xbox, but I know there's a modding scene for PS4 because I helped a friend mod his game when it came out back in 2021.

The deal with FIFA fell through before the Saudi takeover was on the cards, and, AFAIK, they haven't finalized the takeover yet. In theory, now that this news is out, they could still ask FIFA to wait and not sign with Netflix now on the promise they'll pay more later, who knows. Kinda like how Paramount tried to fuck over Netflix in the Warner Bros. deal.
