i like to imagine they dont have a concept of gender and only care about sex for having children reasons

I read about a version (don’t remember where) of dwarven reproduction where two (or more) dwarves lovingly carve their offspring from stone and then dwarven magic brings it to life. Therefore gender didn’t matter at allI heard they just spring out of holes in the ground!

Like a whole race composed entirely of art snobs

Therefore gender didn’t matter at allThe adventurers walked through the ancient dwarven halls. Lining the sides of the hallway were statues of... _things_, not quite person-shaped, but made with vaguely recognizable arms, legs, and faces. "Keep your eyes open" said Meldorn. "A fellow dwarf has been living alone here. But maybe a little _too_ alone [ahem] if you know what I mean. Don't touch them."

Therefore gender didn’t matter at allThat's official DnD lore for Azer. > Made, Not Born. Azers don't reproduce. They are each crafted from bronze by another azer and imbued with a portion of the crafter's inner flame. Each azer is sculpted with unique features. This crafting process limits the growth of the azer population and is the primary reason that these creatures remain rare.

i like to imagine they dont have a concept of gender and only care about sex for having children reasonsOne of Tolkiens appendices touches briefly on Dwarvish gender. IIRC women were slightly less common than men, and many of them weren't interested in having kids. So only 1/3 of dwarves are women and only 1/3 of them ever reproduce. So even though they have long lives they barely maintain replacement numbers. He also says that both men and women have beards and outsiders can't tell them apart. I think Gimlis line about it in The Two Towers is a direct quote from this section.
