This is a movie from 1930 that was restored in 1998 and will enter into the public domain in the US in 36 days and 3ish hours.

It's one of the first wide screen, large gauge films.

I watched it for the first time a few days ago. I struggled with some bits of the production (it has no score, and not nearly enough Foley work) but I really genuinely enjoyed the film itself, so much so that I'm still thinking about it several days later.

(It's an adaptation of a Broadway play, which was itself an adaptation of a novel. The play was adapted in to two other films, in 1926 and in 1959.
