Serious question: how do people in Trump base, the people who like him feel about this? Do they just ... agree that this is our business and it's worth putting our markets in peril for this guy they don't even know from a country I suspect they never think about?

It's transparent to *me* why Trump would do this but it is very extravagant, and how does anyone see protecting a corrupt foreign leader as "America First" or whatever?

Do they just not pay attention?

I know quite a few, and these are not dumb people - pilots, MBAs, C-suite execs, engineers. (...keep enemies closer, etc.)
They literally think he can do NO WRONG.

They are in a cult:
He's so strong, always standing up for us and USA, against THEM (who?).
He never misspeaks, just jokes a lot.
He never backs down, just changes his mind.
He's smart, which is why he is rich.

To de-power #Trump, you have to make him look WEAK to his #maga supporters.

I just want to know why (they think) the American people should suffer from higher prices and trade disruptions to make an ineffective political gesture to protect some corrupt foreign leader who is facing a trial in his own country for their own reasons? This isn't our business? Right?

Why do we need to run around helping Bolsinaro? I happen to know who he is but I can assure you most people in the US do not.
