Petagine a Mariner? Missed that.
Petagine was a statnerd cause way back in the rec.sports.baseball days and I was definitely part of the cult. That was even before he hit 331/436/617 in 443 PA at AAA for my Reds in 1998. They shrugged and sold him to Japan (Yakult Swallow). I’m still bitter.
312/438/613 over 3496 PA & 7 seasons in Japan. Teams would be throwing money at him now!
He was at Boston and Seattle briefly after coming back from Japan.
