      I think we should use "show" for the noun and "shew" for the verb

      @hipsterelectron

      People think English got messed up naturally but it took people like me working for centuries to make it this confusing.

          @catmisgivings @hipsterelectron

          phial? You can use phial. no one can stop you. "I drank several phials of the substance" works just fine.

          gaol is harder to pull off. "right to gaol" just isn't the same.

                Sounds like a lesbian pulp novel title.

                  @MegaMichelle @futurebird @hipsterelectron kind of? Just because some guy writes a dictionary doesn't mean anyone has to use it

                  We could be using the OED, or Macquarie

                  Noah Webster got in good with the Federalists and through them became influential. They used his quirky but rational spellings as part of the project of nation-building because they so would

                    If one wants to bring back a word, or start a new one what matters more is what people around you will let you get away with and how often you can do it. I've been using "'d" in place of "ed" oft enough and no one stops me. Not one person is ofend'd.

                    Just dive in and start making changes. If they catch on you win!

                      @futurebird @catmisgivings @MegaMichelle @hipsterelectron I want everyone to use the word callipygian more often. I think i read it in an Angela Carter novel, but I don't recall.
