Tricks for an illusionist?
-
I'm about to play a gnome illusion wizard and I'm researching (high INT!) creative uses for illusions. A classic is an illusory wall to hide behind as enemies run past or cannot aim to you. Or make the pit seem to be somewhere else so they fall in as they charge you. Or fake allies for distraction. We're playing Pathfinder 2e as 1st level characters. So technically that means the wizard has Figment (Ghost Sound), Illusory Object, and Prestidigitation at his disposal. There are probably some cool illusion stories in this community?

Instead of just tricking a target with a direct approach, use illusions to trick targets into helping them trick secondary targets. Surveil a target to find out what a family member's voice sounds like in order to imitate it. Use an illusory object to feign that you've taken something to bait someone into an over reaction that gets them in trouble. That kind of manipulation.

Heighten it to Level 2 and cast Illusory Wall of Fire. It generates heat, sound, and light just like a real wall of fire! It just deals 0 damage. Your allies can move through it without giving up the game if their acting is good, and if you give a path through (no matter how lousy,) enemies are more inclined to to where you want them instead disbelieving by risking a pass through.

Illusory bugs on your face to make you more intimidating/disgusting. Illusory smell to make people nauseous, aka targeted fart bombs. Illusory screaming on only one ear Illusory burning feeling on others' feet, aka DANCE DANCE MOTHERFUCKER - could be useful to apply to hands so enemies would be very likely to drop a weapon Illusory "Aha, you stepped on glue! You can't move!" Illusory feeling like you're underwater, feeling the weight of water in your movement and having to "swim" on air. I wonder if illusion could make someone mix up the sense of limb placement - what I mean is, even if we have our eyes closed, we know where our limbs are in relation to the rest of our bodies, we can tell whether it's the right or left index finger close to our eyes. Fuck up that sense and the target will be helpless.

There are probably some cool illusion stories in this community?Game report: Yesterday I played my illusion wizard, creatively named Lusion in a one shot. The adventure was simple: Goblins nap a kid, party comes to rescue. Guardian, ranger, sorcerer, and wizard. Figment is a funny thing to mess around. For example, Lusian conjured a big red sign to mock the ranger's scouting. In the initial encounters, the illusionist mostly watched the ranger killing goblins. He did scare off the goblins in their entrance rooms with a "GRENADE!!" but that was just a non-magical ruse. High deception, performance, etc skills helps with such stuff though. The boss fight was against two minions, an alchemist, and a healer goblin. The alchemist showed high initiative and doused the party in fire but then Lusion gave him a stern look and told him to drop prone (Command, the Goblin crit-failed his save). The ranger did the final dirty work and the kid was rescued. Sadly, I didn't get to use Illusory Object or Charming Push.
