    What I keep coming back to is the fact that the people for whom Epstien's crimes have become a point of fracture with Trump are simply not people who care at all about crimes like rape.

    I say that because it's the same group of people who always second guess victims, who don't think "date rape" is real rape, who might say they want to "protect girls" but don't care if the girl is a teen as they decide she's "fast."

    I guess if they imagine a "perfect victim" they do care?

      @futurebird That's part of why they do the mental gymnastics to blame the victim -- they don't want to have to care, because then they would actually have to do something. Only when a "perfect victim" is presented are they finally willing to think about maybe acting if they have to.

          what stands out to me is that the news industry keeps trying their damndest to turn the public eye to something else, anything else. They are very obviously every bit as terrified of the epstein thing as trump is. Maybe even more terrified.

            They keep calling it a "conspiracy" (derogatory) and while there are conspiracies about the details that are fantastical and silly, Ms. Maxwell was convicted. There is nothing crazy or fringe about thinking that there is something being buried from the public.

            In that way it is a conspiracy in the classical sense.
