This is one of the better bits of raw tornado footage I've seen this year.

This is one of the better bits of raw #tornado footage I've seen this year. Just incredible how they concentrate power, motion in one place while the air is seemingly calm nearby.
This one has layers that give you a sense of the internal structure of the vortex!
I don't understand how "storm chasers" do this. I would simply leave. Though in this one the storm chasers are being chased by the storm: it eats up telephone poles behind them. Terrifying.

@futurebird Where’d the bird go? (around 3:15)

When you turn out the lights bees drop to the ground ... this is an instinct to avoid storms.
Bees immediately plummet to ground when lights turn off
Bees immediately plummet to the ground when the light inside of a room is switched off, a fascinating video has shown. Biotechnology and Biological Science PhD student Hamish Symington captured the moment dozens of the creatures immediately hit the deck the second they’re plunged into darkness. The University of Cambridge student told the Independent: “The thing that’s surprising here is that it’s such a sudden switch-off, almost like there’s some kind of hard-wiring for ‘dark = no flying’. “Some people have suggested it’s an adaptation to predators flying overhead, ‘see a shadow, drop to avoid being caught’.” Sign up to our newsletters.

I hope the bird could do something similar

@futurebird What was that wobble-wobble at 4:30 or so? Wild.

It's like it decided to give up on "violence" and try "seduction" for a bit!
Oddly this is faaar from the most "ropey" tornado I've seen video of... they can do a "loop de loop"

I have a mild obsession with tornados.

I just checked on another computer and you don't need to sign in to view a youTube video so this is odd.

@futurebird Would you ever want to see one in real life?
I have seen waterspouts and dust devils, which aren’t quite the same.

I've seen a waterspout whilst kayaking and that was enough for me, thank you! It was very scary.
