It's not just that "illegals" can't use these programs ... it's bad that people who live in the US, work in the US, pay taxes in the US, people who are a part of our communities are cut off.
More moderate Democrats are terrified to make this case. But it doesn't matter because everyone who would hate them for that already just assumes they are doing it anyways.
This exclusion makes the "immigrant threat" seem credible when it isn't.

It just sounds fake when sometimes these Democrats say "immigration is good for the US" and "there is no immigrant crime wave" but then they also say "beef up border spending!" and "never ever should those people participate in the programs for the good working people who are the backbone of the nation"

Democrats talk about immigrants out of both sides of their mouth and it makes them seem so fake.
Even though I know they are correct that "none of this shutdown money is about giving 'illegals' health care" when I hear some of them say it I struggle to believe them. They just don't sound confident and honest. They sound defensive and guilty like they got caught (caught wanting to help some of the best people in the country? WTF?)
