@futurebird Just so we're clear, we get to see these animals alive and up close before the incident? We're not just talking about an accident in a museum?

Scratched by a T-Rex, you survive

Do you turn into a t-rex in the light of a full moon and have to feast on an innocent?

@futurebird Slightly related, I actually got bit by a Moray eel once. I was a teenager, swimming in Hawaii, and I pulled myself down on the edge of a coral head. I let go, but my fingers were sorta stuck. I stuck my head down under the edge of the coral head, and there was this Moray, just retreating. I was wearing diving gloves, so it didn’t penetrate skin (and I’m sure I tasted terrible!) It was really charming

Bitten is worse than scratched, that's all I'm going with here.

Consider the curious nibble of a huge sea bug.

Sounds like we live in number two and four, but we may die with number one and three.

@futurebird the Devonian swamp would be full of weird bugs, many belonging to groups that aren't around any more. Of course, so would the shallow Ordovician seas of the Hudson bay.

@futurebird sharks are only winning because the supporters of extinct clades fought amongst themselves, instead of uniting behind a single candidate.
