I was very alarmed by the idea that people could edit posts on here when I moved from Twitter years ago.

I was very alarmed by the idea that people could edit posts on here when I moved from Twitter. So, in my settings, I put on every single alert. An edit is the *only* thing that makes the mastodon app make noise.
I expected to catch wicked subterfuge, chicanery.
But, I hear the alert sound very rarely.
And? I'm always excited to see what spelling error is corrected.
(Darkly: Posts and their corrected versions would be a killer training set for a nice tame spelling LLM)

I suspect most people here are real spelling and grammar geeks and do not want to see their errors left roaming in the wild.
Of course I never make such errors, just typos. I'm a one finger typist so those are frequent.

@futurebird Facebook has always allowed edits, and probably Meta has used them for training purposes.

Does facebook indicate when a post has been edited and let you see the previous version?
If not? I'd say that isn't helping them with their many intractable problems.
