According to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison:

ICE is blocking MN investigators from the crime scene. The MN National Guard is on the way to force ICE to let investigators in.

(NB: Still trying to find a confirmed source for this; I have no further info yet)

UPDATE: Source for this is somebody at the scene who heard Ellison say it in conversation. Source is likely reliable person, but may have incomplete info. This is a big game of telephone right now, so don’t treat this as authoritative in any way.

@inthehands From the press conference a bit ago on cspan, General Mankey made it sound like the national guard were being called in to assist the Hennepin County Sheriff in, among other things, protecting the Whipple building, and are mobilizing additional national guard at this time.

They also confirm feds abandoned the scene to local law enforcement who in turn abandoned it to protestors.

Trump wants an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act and thereby be able to cancel the midterms. Don't take the bait.

Trump admin now claiming ICE was scared and threatened and murdered this man in self-defense.

Please keep in mind the post below.

Please keep in mind that they lied their asses off •relentlessly• about murdering Renee Good.

Please don’t believe a word that comes out of these people’s mouths, and push back on every news outlet that treat their statement with even a drop of credulousness.

Attached: 1 image This is not an isolated incident. Cops lie about what happened all the time. It’s worth reading again (or at all if you never have before, but make sure you’re sitting down) how the Minneapolis police first described the murder of George Floyd, before they knew there was video: 3/

@inthehands “We know that they are lying, they know that they are lying, they even know that we know they are lying, we also know that they know we know they are lying too, they of course know that we certainly know they know we know they are lying too as well, but they are still lying. LMAO. "Being scared" is part of law enforcement's job. That's why training is so important: how to properly handle a weapon, how to handle an adrenaline rush with a loaded weapon in your hand, how to manage a crowd and de-escalate violence, etc.

DHS and ICE, which means Trump and Miller don't give a shit. They intentionally hire unvetted incompetents with virtually no training, but with full combat armor and weapons, at a civilian population and tell them to enforce obedience.

@huntingdon @inthehands Bovino claimed that the person who killed Alex had 8 years experience, so lack of training is not really the issue here

Possibly with regard to one shooting. But the agency culture that enabled it, from Trump-Miller to Bovino and on down?

@huntingdon @inthehands I'm referring both to this shooting and Renee Good's shooting-- her killer had 10 years of experience. The "they need more training" narrative is entirely bullshit

I'm referring to the underlying culture that lets and encourages trained agents to shoot to kill in a civil policing context, with the expectation that there will be no consequences, not even an investigation.

Imagine how that affects everyone, including new ICE agents, who have little training or context, and existing agents, who were hired because they were prone to be racist and violent skinheads.

@huntingdon sure but literally all I'm talking about are the two people who actually committed murders in my city. I have no interest in a deeper discussion at this time

                      ‼️ Twin Cities residents‼️

                      Citywide vigil, on every block

                      7:00pm tonight

There is no central gathering location, to prevent further ICE / DHS targeting. Vigil location is wherever you are.

Please contact your nearby neighbors now and spread the word. We want the whole city showing up. This has to end.

That. In the descent into authoritarianism, we are still very much in the “consolidating power” phase — and that phase can still fail. In fact, it looks a lot less successful now than it did 6 months ago.

Oh. 💔 My wife and her dad both knew Alex Pretti from the VA Hospital where he was a nurse. “Gentle and such a good listener.”
