⚾ These magazines [Hit and SuperHit] would really try to make me a Dodgers fan.

I need to check my archives. 1983 might have been the year my dad drove us down to see a spring training game at Dodgertown in Vero Beach. We lived about a 90 minute drive north of there.
Such a weird field at the time. The outfield had a hill instead of a wall and palm trees with white lines painted on them to show where a HR should be.
I’ll see if I can find a photo.

Still looking for a photo of the weird OF, but I’d forgotten about the crazy open-air dugouts.

It’s Holman Stadium at Dodgertown in Vero Beach. This is looking along the third base line. The hill and palm trees are in play. By the 1980s, the turf ran seamlessly up the hill and the trees had white lines painted on them to show home run height.
Also, notice the “dugout” at this point is literally just a hole in the ground with a bench and nothing in the way of protection for the players.
