I was up early enough (and lucky enough) to catch the tail end of the Bronx 10 mile. The leading man had already just gone by so I stopped to watch hoping for a dog fight amongst the top women. unfortunately, the winner was right up with some men, in perhaps 11th or 10th and the next woman to come along was hundreds of meters back, no chance of a close finish. still a great race. Could I catch the running bug again?

now the great mass of runners are passing, and they fill the street from edge to edge running shoulder to shoulders not so much competing as sweeping each other along. They are like army ants.

That is a compliment to the runners and race organizers, obviously.

When I ran with NYRR for years and years I complained that they didn't have enough races in the Bronx. The NYC Marathon has its roots in the Bronx with the work of Ted Corbitt who changed the world of running. But the Marathon route hardly touches the Bronx at all. I always thought it was disrespectful.
But it seems they have added a new 10 mile race in the Bronx!
I wish I could still run, maybe I could walk it next year. It goes right down the Concourse a very pleasant run!
