I think we should support game development designed around "infringing" on some of their bullshit patents. I love Pokemon and they're doing fuck-all with the franchise, so I'd love to see more indie devs' takes on the concept. Have you seen all the really cool "fakemon" that have existed for decades on Deviant Art?

Oh there's more than just on DeviantArt, fan games like Pokรฉmon Uranium are full of fakemons that can rival anything Nintendo is putting out.

Nah my point was that nintendo is just your standard evil corporation. I think the super villain part is a bit of a hyperbole compared to say, amazon or nestle.

I think theyre *all shitty* and adjectives to describe them being literal or figurative don't matter.

Yeah, but that's actual copyright infringement. I want more Palworlds and Cassette Beasts and Monster Sanctuaries, and I want them to be really blatant about things like summoning your monsters to ride them.

I just hope someone takes Nintendo to court over that latest bogus patent so it can get thrown out.

They're a Japanese company, so chances are pretty high they do that, too.

Hey if they are I will definitely put them up there with the most evil gaming companies. It's not why they are getting called a "supervillain" for that now though. I'm not defending them, just heard a lot worse from ubisoft or activision is all. Nintendo is definitely annoying the shit out of me though.

A super villain? They aren't even the most evil gaming company.

ok like... they're filing patents for bullshit and litigating a bunch of dubious cases, but afaik no one has been cut up with bone saws and stuff into a piece of luggage. I don't put it past wario but....? did I miss something? because that's literally who EA's selling out to

                              > put EA higher on the evil scale. I don't like where nintendo is going, but yeah, the EA thing is a whole new kind of 'fucking gross' the irony is EA started as a company that would (gasp!) CREDIT THE DEVELOPERS. Because previous companies didn't - there wasn't any credit given to anyone anywhere. EA said 'come program for us and we'll put you in the credits!' and it worked. But then sometime about 8 years later they'd become the EA we all know and hate and things really haven't changed much since.

Romhacks are not copyright infringement if you donโ€™t distribute the ROMs. They only distribute patch files and users need to acquire the ROMs through _legal backups of their own copies of the original games_. It is not illegal to patch software, and it is not illegal to distribute a detailed list of all the things youโ€™d change about a copyrighted work in order to make it into something else.
