Is it wrong for me to keep an umbrella in my bag?

Is it wrong for me to keep an umbrella in my bag? The last time I kept one in my bag NY had the longest drought in recent memory. It ended when I removed the umbrella.
I bought a nice ultralight camping umbrella six years ago and it has never been wet once. In fact the only times I have managed to use an umbrella are on days when I leave during a deluge. In my hands the umbrella is a rain ward.
As spring sets in I’m thinking about carrying one again daily. But is it morally OK?

@futurebird seems like wise preparation to me. For many years I always had one of those roll-up rain ponchos in my backpack. Eventually I had to replace it with a nice rain jacket I bought in Seattle. Unfortunately I no longer have the jacket, so today my rain "gear" is really just an extra long-sleeved shirt, but where I live now that's enough for the summer.

@futurebird Which is more moral: you carrying an umbrella or your head getting wet?
