    Provisionally excited about the mars mold*

    *or rather bacterial patch candidate, or possible strange geology weathering as not yet cataloged... which is almost as exciting as bacteria.

          If it's not the same that means there is bacteria on EVERYTHING basically.

          Sadly I don't think we can know unless we send a way to test it up there OR find a way to bring it back.

            @KateOfMind

            That is probably more sensible. But I want there to be bacterial on everything.

            Because then we can assume space ants are real, right?

              @futurebird So, NASA at least used to do these kinds of analyses regularly, I remember hearing in the 90s about the first meteorites discovered with what they thought were fossilized bacteria remains. When I do a quick search I get a BUNCH of different hits on "precursors of life" analyses, so they DO think they have a way of distinguishing terrestrial from alien organisms, and they were looking, and maybe stil are (this administration yadayada)

                @Wyatt_H_Knott

                ...yeah...

                the "fossil bacteria" were totally the wrong size I think.
