So there was a horrible dnd after school activity club when i was in midleschool, but it was a learning point to me. Somehow multiple players from all sorts of groups tryed/wanted to play as Shrek but most of them were turned down, some managed to sneak by though. Anyone have a similar story by chance of someone wanting to play as a meme?

A friend of a friend played as a scruffy ranger. Bounty Hunter background. Had a big dog companion. Wasn't until they clarified that the dog was a great dane named Scooby that the others figured it out. Heard of another case of a gnomish monk, way of the drunken master. Apparently chosen entirely so they could say "I'm a little drunk".

My first character was based on the classic meme of "an atheist in D&D". I was then told the setting did not have proven gods, so being atheist was relatively normal. So I stepped it up and didn't believe in magic either. It was a fun character to play, honestly.

The amount people that want to play as Shrek is not surprising, but I think the main issue is that they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming.

Trying to think of established characters to make TTRPG PCs out of, I think I would be AM in a Shadowrun campaign.

You mean like playing an old man coming from the north, wearing a big blue coat, riding an enchanted slight in the air with reindeer companions, carring a big bag of holding and having a big cane as weapon? I have no idea what you are talking about šŸ˜‰
