    In the late 70s this car called the "Interstyl Hustler 6" was an exciting new concept in personal transport. They also came in white, which made it look more like a golf cart.

    If it reminds you of a heathkit project well, that's because it came in a box and you built it yourself.

      @futurebird Jeez that's ugly – the lines and proportions are terrible. Of course I want one but that's beside the point. Were these street legal? Looks flimsy

        @futurebird I wish the whole concept of kit cars had taken off here in the United States. Given the high price of cars today it might if we can get the size of cars down to a reasonable one again.

        Also kit planes are a thing. Build a plane that you can then fly at a fraction of the cost of buying a standard plane! You can't fly them commercially, though. There's a whole magazine dedicated to them: https://www.kitplanes.com/
