how so?

@alexwild May I ask in which direction? (Curiosity from Europe where the USA as a state at best feel like a frenemy, and worst like Putin).
-
how so?
@futurebird Both darker and more hopeful; the regime is pushing forward with multiple wish-list items (end Fed independance, invade Greenland, kill protestors, etc) in very destructive ways all at once, but it also feels like they've gone over the end of their skis and more normies are starting to notice.

@NatureMC As the regime gets less restrained and takes more risks, more people here who hadn't been paying attention are noticing.

@NatureMC The propaganda here is thick, all the main channels are designed to cocoon Americans into thinking nothing is wrong. But it's hard to hide.

@NatureMC Ultimately, I don't know if the American political system will be able to work this out on its own. The state has tremendous power, and the opposition party, what is left of it, is super corrupt.
It would be helpful if Europe could do things like implement sanctions on U.S. officials, kick out our tech companies, and close down the US military bases. Most Americans, even many low-info Trump supporters, think of Europe as friendly allies and could use a nudge to wake them up.

@alexwild I hope so much that it gives some input/energy into resisting.
But I fear that the last remnants of American-European friendship are currently being destroyed. If we hadn't made ourselves so dependent, there would now be a cut.

@alexwild The problem: Europe has missed the opportunity to establish its own technological infrastructure. We are completely intertwined and dependant. The EU is hard working for more independency but it will take years. They often fine big US tech but the tech bros only laugh when they have to pay some millions.
Sanctions could endanger the peace talks for Ukraine. But for the thing with the military bases: -

I agree. But you might be surprised how many people are unaware that things like greenland are even happening due to badly captured media—
Though the trust in that media is at least very low.
