In the video of Tamir Rice being murdered before the police pull up you see him splashing in a puddle, breaking the icy film on it in that little scrap of park in a Cleveland winter.

And then a few minutes later he's dead.

I think about that moment often. What it felt like, what the light was like on that winter day.

When will enough people realize that the police can lie?

Is everyone going to sit here and pretend that Alex Pretti was "an assassin" when it's obvious he was just another person like a lot of people I've known. A lot of people you have probably known.

The people telling these lies know they are lies. How many people are going to play along with the bullshit?

@futurebird not only that, the people PUBLISHING the lies know they're lies.

        It's just...mind boggling.

@futurebird I'm struggling to think of a quote from a police officer that wasn't a lie

When Tamir died I watched that video many many times. I thought that if I understood it perfectly I could explain to the people who seemed to not understand... what was really happening.

This was futile. With conservatives as you might expect, but also with some liberals who rationalized "well the police need more training, and bodycams, you have to be reasonable, it's a dangerous job"

I didn't think about what watching that video might be doing to me.

You know how kids, sort of flap their arms when they have just gone outside? The way they sort of skip along so happy to be free to run and play?

                I keep thinking about that.

                A gang member.
                A terrorist.
                An ... assassin?

Some people will see what they are told to see no matter what.
