the screenshot of the ceo of #bluesky #blueskysocial saying "we didn't do blocks because they're hard" is a straight-up admission to not being serious about solving the nazi problem.

EDIT TO ADD: per https://circumstances.run/@davidgerard/110278426748225990
the bit they left out is that the person this was in aid of was Matt Yglesias who had a flock of trans posters tell him to fuck off, then fuck off some more
they didn't care about [harassment] until it was Matt Y

fyi for the splainer downthread, we "know" that they're planning on doing algorithmic content moderation because it's a jack dorsey venture, and jack dorsey is a known machine-learning maximalist, we worked at twitter for years, we can read between the lines as to what the fuck is happening when the site is implementing a categorization system, there is 0 chance that these people in specific are going to continue to manually categorize, and there is also 0 chance that they are going to consider literal nazis actual hate speech
(eta: remove typo that implied there were multiple splainers)

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like he still seems to think moderation is about keeping people from seeing things that might offend them.
That's not what moderation is about. That's why people may call for moderation. There is a difference.
Moderation is about community safety.
