Ubisoft announces Rainbow Six Siege X, the "biggest transformation in the game's history"

I bought this game at launch hoping i would get a more tactical SWAT style version of Counter Strike with destructive terrain. What I got was a dog shit hero shooter with anime skins. So I stopped playing on day two.My friends and I played R6 a lot until early 2020. It was a lot of fun back then. I preferred it over CSGO because it had more strategic depth and it didn't rely too much on aim. It was all about information gathering and learning different setups and countering the common ones. Trying the game again last year and it was a mess. So many new operators to grind out for and a lot of them were really weird. We thought Oryx was weird already and now I come back and you can play as two robots as a single operator

After R6 Rogue Spear, the series started morphing into a bog standard run and gun shooter.

We're going to get a story mode like what we were supposed to get with Patriots?....no? Then fuck offWhat was it that interested you about that demo? Because it seemed even less Rainbow Six than what this is today. For the console generation they were building it for, it probably would have been devoid of tactical options or choices.

Had the thought yesterday that Ubisoft is sitting on so many Bangers for multiple Niches. R6 is in between an Arcade game and a Tactical Competitive Game, curious to see where it'll turn with X. They have Trackmania which has like 70.000 People paying 20$ a Year to play the game and one of the best racing games on the market. They have the best Medieval Fighting game (In my personal opinion) With For Honor and the "Art of War" tech that they under-utilize Yet when it comes to the biggest markets they are crashing with their Far Cry's at every sauce. There are a lot of Ubisoft games I would buy in a heartbeat if Ubisoft didn't own them, which is kind of hilarious to me in a way given the narratives around why large corporations are supposedly better at creating widely popular games.

I don't do PvP and do not have any remote interest in it anymore.

I want single player campaign. I don't do PvP and do not have any remote interest in it anymore.Sure, but that was sort of the era where everyone was just trying to make another Call of Duty, and that wasn't really where Rainbow Six shines. Have you played the campaigns in some of the old games?

I actively played R6 and Overwatch for a while and then stopped. After a pause, coming back to Overwatch was no problem; below Master pretty much everyone is playing casually. Coming back to R6 however, was overwhelming. Everyone is playing strategically optimally, you have to play a lot, follow the meta, and be very focused to be able to play in mid to high ranks. At least that's my experience. R6 is not what I consider an arcade game.

But more than once have I heard from people that play at very high level that the game and new agents are more Arcady than what the game was at its origin. Although now that they keep on nerfing everything that exsts the game is becoming more and more rigid and Tactical

This post did not contain any content. The only things I will miss about them are the old Tom Clancy games. Having said that: Ubisoft, you better keep sinking slower. I'm enjoying this drama way too much.

The first couple years were actually excellent but like you say it just turned in to a big mess with a miserable decline in every way.Ubisoft cannot be forgiven on how much time they wasted remastering all the original maps. That’s when I called it quits.
