      @futurebird A video with that title is debunking that claim, which is apparently an archeology conspiracy theory. This is an example of Betteridge’s Law.

        @michaelgemar

        I'm almost as mad that it needs to be debunked.

            One could probably start up some wild conspiracy theories by aggressively and earnestly debunking them as if they were a problem.

                    @futurebird now if the title had said the "*African* Great Lakes", I could totally believe trade goods would have travelled from the African Great Lakes to Ancient Egypt, but I'd expect the ancient egyptians had much closer sources of copper. After all, the White Nile connects to Lakes Kyoga, Victoria, and Albert. Sadly, that's probably not what the video is about.

                            I think this one upset me because I hate it when people mess with Ancient Egyptian history. I love that stuff. It's so interesting and needs no embellishment. It's fun the way it is. But what I also hate is people ignoring the pre-history of the Americas.

                            And this clown theory is somehow doing both at once. It's too much.

                              @futurebird @michaelgemar the pressure would turn the peanuts into peanut butter

                              but, it's probably pretty dry and crumbly since we've been siphoning out all of the oil

                                  @futurebird @wcbdata @michaelgemar but capitalism will collapse if it can't turn all the mantel peanuts into packing peanuts. Your chair carved from solid mantel peanaut could provoke the downfall of capitalism.

                                    OK I just watched Milo's video about the "power plant under the pyramid" conspiracy theory (Some people did some ground penetrating radar and then some other people made up a bunch of fan fiction)

                                    And this explains why my recommendations, which are pure as the driven snow surfaced the nonsense about "Ancient Egyptians Were Mining Copper from the Great Lakes?"

                                    I didn't know about the whole pylons thing otherwise.

                                      OK after seeing the "power plant under the pyramids" (now with AI!) nonsense, I'm looking back on my "earth is full of chewy nougat and massive peanuts" joke and not finding it so funny anymore.

                                      This is why satire is dangerous friends.
