Firstly this is surprisingly high-quality coverage. I've never heard of this website but I'm pretty impressed. Secondly, regarding the lawsuit in general, I think that patent and intellectual property law regarding game mechanics and software processes in general are badly in need of reform. There doesn't seem to have been significant legislative action to address this in any major economy that I know of. The number of bullshit parents being filed, unclear and vague rules as to how copyright/patent law works with respect to software, AI, and game mechanics, is really leading to a lawsuit culture where the only way to find out what the bounds of the law are is to spend millions of dollars on lawyers to litigate it in court, when really, legislatures should be actively writing new and clearer rules to deal with these issues before people need to sue each other to find out. The Internet of 2025 is just way too different and complex to operate using the copyright rules of the 1990s.

I'll keep playing my N64 and NES, I might even buy some more used games. But I'll never give them another dollar.

I’m bummed cause I was hype on Mario kart world. Hell I was hype on my MacBook and iPhone too. But the last 4 months have made it clear: the revolution we need isn’t possible using the devices of our oppressors Make no mistake: Apple Nintendo Microsoft etc are oppressors. Well emulate switch 2 eventually. I’ll play Mario kart world eventually. I nurse grudges a long time. I’m patient. And angry. These corporations have been conspiring against us and are now openly supporting fascism in my country. I will do everything I can to hurt these businesses and ruin the men behind them. Hey fopdoodle / contrarian / fascist who is gonna tell me how pointless my goals are: then why are you scared ? (“lol you think I’m scared” can’t wait to see it) Nerd together strong. Angry nerds together is a potential disaster for the techno fascists. Stay angry my friends. Everyday we do one thing to work against them we are winning. We will win. And then we will have justice. It will be a vengeful justice for all the misdeeds they collectively have visited on every woman, immigrant, trans person or anyone they have chosen to hurt. We won’t forget this shit. (Corporate encroachment on our rights to the property we own is a symptom of a much bigger problem. This isn’t about video games, it’s the corrupt fascism thst enables the corporate thievery that’s the root. And Nintendo picked a side. The wrong one)

The problem is that the people who would write these rules are the ones making A LOT of money on the way they are written now. For them there is no need to fix it, because it ain't broke.

As much as I love many Nintendo games, their business practices are so anti-consumer. The Switch is definitely the last of their console I buy for the foreseeable future.

this is actually the opposite of what I've seen. quite a few fanboys are dubious and some are boycotting with sad expressions on their faces. *that's how badly nintendo have fucked up.* sensible individuals amongst their own fan base are turning on them.

Between my wife and I we own damn near every Nintendo console, including every game boy, most of the DS/3DS versions, and even the Wii U. We bought two Switches because we both wanted to play BotW so badly at the same time lol. This is where I draw the line. Palworld is an imperfect but fun game that I really enjoyed, and PocketPair deserves their success. It's entirely on Nintendo/Game Freak for utterly failing to innovate that they now have such strong competition. They had more than enough money to try something new, get fucked.

A boycott would work, I just think most Nintendo fans are empty in their threats and will still buy the switch 2 just like all those MW2 players did back then.

My boycott will work. I was gonna. It 4 switch 2 consoles. Now I will buy zero. And contribute to efforts to crack that thing. If you buy something, you own it.
