ICE deported a Bronx teen to El Salvador and I'm taking it personally.

ICE kidnapped a Bronx teen to El Salvador and I'm taking it personally. Reading what I can find about this, and from what his family said they came to their building looking for one person then took him instead.
It is not clear exactly how they are selecting people at all. They do seem to have a list of people with "criminal records" but this kid wasn't on it. He has no record. His dad brought him to US two years ago from Venezuela as a minor.

i dont think they are selecting anyone on any basis other than skin color/profiling
this is a campaign of fear, pure and simple.
CHicago canceled the cinco de mayo parade, for example... this is the goal - to intimidate and destroy communities. IMO, it's kinda working. people are afraid. -

@futurebird That one has me shaken, too. I saw those ICE goons on the train a few weeks ago and they kept getting ready to jump off at the wrong stop, didn't seem to know what they were doing. I honestly think it's just a big human-trafficking scheme. They're just kidnapping people and selling them into slavery in El Salvador and they have clear instructions not to care who--because once they're enslaved they're irretrievable, and randomness is usefully scary.

Those of us looking at this from the outside (for now) might want to imagine that there "must have been something" but, having looked as deep as I can I don't think there is. He's not a secret gang member, he didn't fight the police, you won't find a reason why this cant be you:
He's not a citizen.
He doesn't speak English.
He's a strapping young man who fits their ... casting call.
His family isn't wealthy or full of lawyers.Doesn't even have a tattoo.

But... in the Bronx there are a LOT of people who tic all of those boxes.
I really think they were looking for one person and just decided to take him because they thought it wouldn't cause an outrage and they could get away with it.
This is totally broken.
And I'm totally outraged.

They just grabbed some random 19 year old. Someone's kid and sent him to a prison in a country he's never been to in his life.
And from what I can tell it's just to meet a quota because they couldn't find the person with the "record" who might have drawn less attention. Not that taking that person would have been right either without a goddamed hearing.

@futurebird
I just wish we - you and me and everyone else here reading this - could stop them immediately.
I'm muting this conversation for the inevitable replies with calls to action. I'm already doing all the things that won't simply result in taking me off the board. -

I removed the word "deported" because it implies a legal process. An imperfect one but still a process where ... there would be a place for objections, for anything.
There was not any legal process.

@futurebird I am convinced their process is all about boundary pushing. If they get away with disappearing this Bronx teen (I expect the republican-run SCOTUS to do nothing to enforce their "order to facillitate return"), they'll expand their selection process to include people who were born in the USA, but happen have a parent who wasn't. The heritage foundation and its ilk have had their hearts set on destroying birthright citizenship for decades.

@futurebird The jackboots probably had a quota to make for the day.
