#ScribesAndMakers 9/25. How would you describe your fashion sense?

Is "comfortable" a fashion sense? lol

I have never followed fashion trends, but fashion trends are never made with bodies like mine in mind 🙄

And I prefer to be comfortable. Easy movement, cool and breathable, modest (because showing too much makes me uncomfortable). Bonus if I actually look good in it, but I care more about *feeling* good in it. So that's what I go for.

      @amPennyfeather

I don't mind being comfortable, but I hate (for me) clothing that looks comfortable. I like timeless clothing items and if I could wear historic costume pieces all the time I would. As it is I "get away" with a few fun things.

I like clothing that's fitted and neat. Very tidy and somewhat gender neutral and/or "classic menswear" re-imagined to be cute.

I'm attracted to bowties and feel very bad about this.

My husband calls my style various things:

        "boring fancy"
        "newise-core"
        "tiny old man inspired"

I salute your glorious expression of the "tiny old man style" vibe!

Also the one on the staircase reminds me of old movies where they do a dance coming down the steps 🙂

Penny feather mentioned "modesty" in the original post, and on that I'm on the same wavelength. I don't like to show a lot of skin, so that's part of the attraction to "old man" style, it's always very covered and often more comfortable than it looks.

You don't need to worry about how you sit or if a bra strap is showing.

Women's fashion when it's "dressy" it's also like playing a dangerous game where you try to keep your underwear hidden from the world.

Consider the famous "little black dress" which people always say is "so simple" when really it's not.

First, like with all clothing you need to have the fit right. The hemline must be right for your build and being off by more than two centimeters is a problem. You need to match your undergarments to the cut of the dress, shave, have lotion it's a whole elaborate production.

Pants are just easier. Or at least I think so.

@futurebird I just spent hours trying to figure out why this wasn't showing up in the #fashion hashtag on my instance. Apparently it's because if you use "quiet public"/"unlisted" visibility on the post, it doesn't federate your hashtag for searching, so people can't find it when they search #fashion.

Anyway, I love your style and would love to see you post publicly in the fashion hashtag! I often feel pretty alone in that space and it's lovely to see other people's personal style

Sometimes people who reply have different settings, so if I then reply the thread can get limited like this. But I assume they have their reasons.
