@sendtherunners that 1987 team also lost their star shortstop for the rest of the season to injury in September. And like Bichette, Fernández was having a hell of a year (the best of his career), slashing .322/.379/.426/.805 with a 5.1 WAR.

@DownForce RIP to a legend. As a kid I refused to throw overhand when I was playing the middle infield because of Tony. Loved him coming back to get a WS ring after The Trade.
