Oh one "medbed" video says "do not get scammed" but it's about how you have to get the real "military" medbed, not the fakes.

    😕

    This is really sad.

@futurebird shit just tried to do the same search and its awfully true. I thought the results might be biased from the USA side compared to the rest of the world but no, its just a complete radicalization pipeline inside youtube.

      @drexer

This is a scam that targets very sick people. People in horrible pain. People who are scared their loved one is dying and nothing can be done.

It's a kind of scam I have a particular ire for.

I think people have mostly been laughing at it, but this is very real for some people and they think it's their only chance to live. And when they are dead AND broke the scammers will keep their money.

@futurebird It's so destructively dumb that i don't even get to laugh at the fact that, in his dumb medbed post on truth social 8-ish hours ago, he like... uploaded an a.i. deepfake of his own voice.

He just let someone use a computer to generate a counterfeit replica of his voice, dubbed over video of him, and he just uploaded that as if it were something he said out loud in front of a camera in real life. And though the message is garbage, it sounds uncharacteristically coherent (for him).

But no, we can't spend time laughing about that, because now magats are going to be talking about medbeds, a medical technology concept so silly that it was never even depicted on star trek in its 59-year, thousand-ish episode history.

star trek, a show with food/matter replicators, warp engines, instant dermal generators, telepathy, and Q. Medbeds are too silly for that type of fantasy.

In star trek, in the 24th century, people still die in sickbay.

                @JamesWidman

                The Drops of Truth:
                * rich people have access to better medicine
                * medical knowledge has exceeded what one person can learn in a lifetime
                * people in the US pay a lot for medical care but don't get their money's worth

                The Emotional Hook:
                * A simple solution for all the pain.

Who wouldn't want this to be real? It's silly but I understand the attraction.

I've found a bunch of private facebook groups where people discuss this stuff. I think that's where the real action (financial transactions) are happening.

Some of these groups seem to be "pay to join" just to find out more about the medbeds. They have a lot of members.

We may not hear from those who are scammed since they feel shame, or they die (this targets the terminally ill) or they are convinced they will get to use the bed if they stay quiet.

In case this needs to be said. Medbeds don't exist. Many of the photos are AI generated and based on MRI machines which larger hospitals use to scan people for things like cancerous tumors, or to plan complex surgeries.

In the past hyperbolic chambers were used to treat polio. No one is hiding this technology.

Want to "do your own research?" wikipedia is OK for this topic.

Do not give someone thousands of dollars if they say you must keep it a secret.

I promise if a medbed was real I would find it because I have a friend who needs one and I'm not someone who cares if people think I'm looking into something "crazy" I don't care.

But there is nothing here but scams and more scammers.

                          That's bad.

@futurebird it’s ridiculous. How can they not understand that if such a thing existed they’d be advertised everywhere? Can’t watch the local news without ads for the latest greatest prescriptions and a real med bed would be a license to print money.

The conspiracy is that it's alien technology, or human technology that no one knows how to replicate and there are only a few thousand beds, so "they" don't want it to be public since it's a limited resource and "they" want to hog it all for themselves.

Which is kind of believable. The part about rich people doing something like that... not the aliens as much.

Donald Trump publishes AI video on medbed conspiracy theory

A video seemingly shows an AI-generated clip of Donald Trump making an apparently bogus announcement about the conspiracy theory claiming all manner of illnesses can be cured by a medical bed

"How can they not understand that if such a thing existed they’d be advertised everywhere?"

@futurebird @CatDragon Cixin Liu wrote a short story (turned into a manga) "Taking Care of God". Something exactly like a medbed is important in the story and is called a cradle. Summary: the cradle; e.g. medbed, using technology that the users do not understand but allows them to live 4000 years. I recommend the story, but not the cradle.

I like Sci-Fi, but I people using it to sell stuff based on it, and in some cases, not understanding that "Fi" stands for "fiction" is getting old.
