Have you ever worked on a drawing and it's going well, but it feels like *something* is missing? Something that could add mystery, meaning, a sense of scale, a touch of nature?

    The painting just isn't complete.

At times like this I'd ask "Have you considered adding some ants?"

There are always ants in life, so ... they can always help give artwork that *something* that's missing.

@futurebird my grandfather collected oil paintings in his retirement and would often meet the artist at home. One of his paintings was a beautiful Scottish highland scene with a loch with a couple of noticeably out of scale ducks on it: he had persuaded the artist to add the ducks later because he thought it was missing something.

@futurebird In my first graphic design class we were given an assignment to fill 100 1inch by 2inch rectangles with as many interpretations of a theme assigned to us by the professor as we could until all the rectangles were filled up. I got "Ant". I really wish I had a photo of that right now. I got an A+. She _never_ gave A+s

              same, this sounds delightful.

It's why I do all of this "why not draw some ants?" posts. I just want to look at a cool drawing of some ants.
