I like wax seals and I'm always looking for excuses to use them. So, when I noticed that a few of the places that sell seals and wax are now offering numbered wax seals... well what are these used for?
They are even selling the tacky "peel and stick" variety which means people are really using them for something... but what?
The sets may include metal seals in the numbers 1-10 or 11-20 etc up to 100.

Very pretty. I've obtained some "ceramic wax" which is very brittle and shiny and can't wait to mess with it.
I do mostly just mess with the stuff.

@futurebird maybe they're used if you need to give 100 sealed letters to someone and you need them to open them in a particular order.

@futurebird @floatybirb If you're a wealthy recluse who's masterminded an elaborate cross-country treasure hunt for your friends, enemies, and potential heirs, of course.

OK I don't really get using WAX for that... but let people have fun I suppose.

@liferstate @futurebird there should be one of those airplane magazines that tries to sell expensive nonsense, but all the expensive nonsense would only ever be used by wealthy recluses who need to plan elaborate cross-country treasure hunts.

To talk of many things:
Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —
Of cabbages — and kings —
And why the sea is boiling hot —
And whether pigs have wings.'” -
