Septembers are for #softball (aka slow pitch back in Canada) down here in this particularly sunny corner of America. Between practices and games, we'll be on the field from about 5-9 p.m. three or four nights a week, fully caked in sweat and red clay dust from the infield by the time the last out has been recorded. All of our players are 18-21 year old university students, and then there's me, doing a fairly passable late career Eddie Harris impression out on the mound. It was a 12-4 win for the good guys during the opener last night and we're back at it at 5 p.m. against our frenemies in the neighbouring preppy residential college with the working HVAC. We're the blue collar free spirits who just know how to win, so bet against us at your peril. Honestly, there's no better remedy for the stresses of stretch drive #baseball fandom than this. #bluejays
