Yesterday I played the demo of the new game Dispatch and it is all beautifully written, but at some point, while presenting the team in-game, there was a casual funny line, pronounced by a voice off-screen, so without graphical support and I just burst out laughing (I was alone at home, so not pressed by social influence of any kind). When I stopped, I realized how uncommon this has become lately. As a kid, I found LucasArts games extremely funny and I laughed more than occasionally, but this aspect of video game entertainment has been dying out. When was the last time you actually laughed out loud while playing a game for something that was actually designed as funny (no Fortnite or CoD shenanigans stories please)?

I mean, I don't know if you can call it 'designed' or not, but multiplayer experiences with chained together are always hilarious. The ironic 'we own you' or 'casually dismissing how unimportant you are' messages in satisfactory get a chuckle. Boneraiser minions is humorous as well, as the minions range from 'normal skeleton' to 'pumpkin headed horrors' and are definitely designed around silliness. Ship of fools has the multiplayer shenanigans, but ALSO some really funny, dry humored lines about the state of your boat/character. All the cat quest games... if you're not rolling your eyes at all the cat puns, there's something wrong with you. Ooooohh, I almost forgot! Another multiplayer one, but entirely designed around laughing as you put a bomb in front of your friend's favorite path to the goal: ultimate chicken horse.

Baby Steps has made me laugh a lot this past month. But my last laugh in gaming was on saturday when I started the new Katamari game and the very first thing I made was given the title Miso Flavour Uranus.

Probably Portal 2, but I plan to try Dispatch as soon as it has completed.

High on Life got one good laugh from me right at the start, where you're playing as Buck, and the tutorial guy is hyping you up and talking about how thats your ex wife's new boyfriend you gotta kill. After that I enjoyed it, but the humour never got a proper laugh out of me. Edit : no wait it did when you first get the knife.

Most recently Trials Rising. Its the worst of the series ive played so far, but i hadn't played one in about 10 years and id forgotten how funny some of the crashes are.

Ironically, Dispatch was the one that I immediately thought of. There's a few other games that have made me laugh recently, but the only one where I felt that the humor was there to stay is Tactical Breach Wizards. > Jen: What the hell just happened? > Zan: I think you just met Liv Kennedy. > Jan: ... > Jan: ... > Jan: I didn't love it.

Fairly regularly with Helldivers 2. The mockery of fascism is too notch, the gameplay results in a lot of hilarious moments of disaster without being punishing, and those combined make for great interactions with other players.

Just the other night I had a 500kg dropped on my ass *just* far enough away from me to not kill me instantly but still send me flying over to the next space-county where I died on impact

Last night playing Forza Horizon 5. I was driving fast and saw a ramp on the edge of a hill so I took it and went air borne for a very far distance until I landed in the middle of a stadium. I laughed because I didn't expect the ramp, didn't expect to fly so far, and didn't expect to land right in the middle of a stadium.

Just started playing Wolfenstein: New Colossus for the first time, and everything is just so over the top, it's funny. The game starts you out in a wheel chair, where you roll through a u-boat, shooting Nazis with an automatic pistol.

My partner always levels half light and physical instrument to get the most unhinged dialogue and it's great.

VtM Bloodlines 2 just got me yesterday because it changed up the dialogue my character speaks when I put on a catholic priest outfit. He provokes people to rage by saying vampy things depending on his clothes but in the priest suit it's just simple "Damn you!"s and calling people demon or quoting the exorcist. The NPC's have the best replies to this though. Before that it was probably the music video scene from The Alters

Some Neon White dialogues have me laugh, but there was one level that baited me so badly, I couldn't stop laughing. Incredibly recommended game, although I'll never forgive the devs for not adding a map editor.

Holy shit The Alters has a music video scene? Is it like in [American Dad](https://youtu.be/oPm-zu-jzKs?t=29s) when he's in Francine's mind and has the other versions of him sing a song?

Um... Slay the Princess, like, last night. Sure it's marketed as a psychological horror game but it's actually pretty funny. That said, I'm also often streaming things with friends and we riff the whole time so even the least funny games ever will get a laugh at some point. Lol

Those Wolfenstein games kinda rule because they're so over the top. And then you become Terror Billy.

I think the moment that got the biggest laugh from me, was shooting that kid in the face then telling his mom about it, or finding the dying care bear dude voiced by PsychicPebbles and he's going on for almost more than five whole minutes about how close he is to dying and he sees the light and blah blah blah. Anytime you tried to leave he'd be like "wait where are you going?! You're just gonna leave me here to die alone?!"
