Reminds me of the recent news that the Pebble Smartwatch founder asked Google for the Pebble OS source code, and Google actually released it.

They put an old Westwood dev in charge of the franchise a few years ago and basically just let him do anything he wants.

Played hundreds of hours of Generals and Zero Hour, I tried playing it again a year ago but it wasn't working well in windows 11. Making it open source might bring this great game back.

Open RA isn’t doing a reverse engineering project, so they’ll probably just keep working on it. They are doing a full gameplay modernization.

I was obsessed with Generals in 2003. It would be very damaging to my productivity if there was a Mac version.

they just added it to steam a few months back. runs fine in win 11 with (i think) a config edit for higher resolutions.
