@futurebird I always enjoyed graduation day as an academic, because we all got to dress up in fancy robes and hoods and hats.
Lots of comparison in the robing room: "That's a nice turquoise lining you've got." "Yes, but I have to wear the mortar board, not the Tudor cap."

I guess there's no redress? (Even if there were, it wouldn't fix the damage).
@faassen @futurebird The gleaming city with futuristic transport, visually, goes back at least as far as the film Metropolis (which was probably a simple extrapolation of what New York was doing at the time).
@futurebird C, but it's looking less like Dan Dare, and more like Mad Max (or Call of Cthulhu).
