I wonder how hard it would be to build; a basic steam engine, then use it to turn a turbine or dynamo, then use it to run my SteamBox -

@gewt sent me this on govdeals as "your next keyboard".@gewt sent me this on govdeals as "your next keyboard".
if it wasn't pickup only on the other side of the country for more money than I have, I'd be tempted!

Does the "ZOHRAN" text render here, for you, and what browser/OS are you on?Does the "ZOHRAN" text render here, for you, and what browser/OS are you on?
on Firefox or Edge Win11, it doesn't render, and I'm not sure why not.

this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLsearching "arduino keypad" on amazon also suggested I buy a blender.
and look, I have a lot of bad ideas for keyboards, but a blender is probably going too far.

this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLI did see this one but didn't get it (it'd take way too long to get here and I have ADHD. time blindness means december doesn't exist)
but check it out: five buttons, 3 wires. It uses analog encoding on the buttons! There's a resistor inline with each button, so the voltage your analog pin measures depends on which buttons are pressed.

this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLfound a little module that''s just a couple tactile switches and a header. ordered.
-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLif I was using a Pico W I'd just pair it to a bluetooth device, but this is actually a Waveshare RP2040-Plus, which is basically just a Pi Pico 1 with more flash storage and a USB-c port (plus a reset button)
-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLso I either have to get a separate module and wire that in too, or build a PCB. and since I can't really solder right now, PCBs are out
-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLwow I didn't think about this at all.
this display isn't a module that clips on the pico like the previous ones I've used, but I thought that'd be fine because I can use some jumper wires and 3D print an enclosure.
EXCEPT I FORGOT I NEED BUTTONS. this module has no buttons
-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLand now I've got it working with hardware SPI, so it's not slow as fuck. Nice.
No one wants to use a keyboard that lags.
-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLIt lives! entirely a thinko on my part, I was trying to use u8x8 and not u8g2.

-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLwell, something is definitely wrong here.

-
this device is SPI and labels two of the pins SDA & SCLwhat do we rename MOSI to? lets confuse it with I²C, that's fine

California uses a radio-tag system called FasTrak for vehicles, and recently they sent me a new tag. This is the closest I was able to get to a non-blurry picture.
It's not super complicated inside: Two main big components, a battery (non-rechargable lithium!) and a switch. The antenna is built into the PCB itself.

So naturally I had to open up the old tag, right?
