I just finished playing the remaster of this game! I was also pretty confused by it and can see why it got a lot of criticism. Her defense is that players end up feeling similar to the character in a meta kind of way. Players probably didn't agree with the way the story was going, but pressed on anyways because they want a conclusion to the story, and that conclusion ends up being terribly unsatisfying. You could have stopped playing, just as the character could have stopped pressing on, but you didn't. Now both you and the character have to deal with the crappy ending. It's definitely a unique way to tell a story, but I'm not sure it's a story that needed to be told. "All of that stuff you did was pointless". Yeah, I know! I knew that at the start! She also brings up the "Abby Spectrum" which is more of an interesting idea. Trying to avoid spoilers, Abby is presented to the player at the start of the game doing something absolutely evil. She's essentially the big bad villain. Later on you get her tragic backstory and see her do lots of nice things. The idea is basically, everyone hates her at the start, but how do you feel about her at the end? Are her backstory and good deeds enough to change your opinion of her? Where do you fall on the "Abby Spectrum"? Maybe the story would have been better if it focused more on this question instead of purposefully setting out to be unsatisfying as a meta way to explain why endless violence, fighting, and revenge is bad. Though I suppose there are a lot of people who might actually need that to be explained.

It was difficult, but not impossible to get one at launch. Prices on the secondhand market are also not as inflated as we saw with the PS5 launch or even the original Switch. I managed to get one preordered and felt lucky in doing so but I think I would have managed to get one in person had I not gotten a preorder.

My buddy and I were just hearing more bad news out of DE and found ourselves looking online to see if anyone's pieced together what's happening behind the scenes. Rebecca works overtime trying to keep him looking good to players (but I won't knock her cause she's just trying to keep the studio going). Probably the closest players ever got to seeing what he's actually like was when he tried to cancel a big devstream last minute, making Rebecca do it solo, then randomly crashed it and just fucked with her. Devstream 133 if you want to look it up (that entire day was weird let me tell ya) Things took a sharp turn when Steve became CEO. It wasn’t just Wayfinder getting the axe. Longtime Warframe devs were let go too. Basically anyone Steve might’ve seen as a threat over the years. A lot of those folks used to shield the rest of us from the worst of it, so losing them hit hard. Morale dropped off a cliff. Plenty of us chose to walk not long after. Hard to say how much of what’s happening now is Steve or Tencent but Steve’s always had a way of setting things up so there’s a scapegoat. I’ve watched good people (even ones I thought he liked) get thrown under the bus for him. The layoffs weren’t even the end of the cuts. He got rid of bonuses for a while too. There was a rumor going around that Steve and some of the devstream guys still got theirs, but no idea if that’s actually true. I think the rest of the team just recently started getting (smaller) bonuses again. At least there’s that. Biggest issue is just the fear. Not everyone was lucky enough to find another job they could flee to. The whole industry’s a mess right now, and nobody wants to speak up because it could mean never getting hired again. I heard a journalist tried reaching out to ex-employees for a story about Wayfinder, but no one wanted to go on record. Can’t really blame them. I feel for the folks burning out over at DE trying to meet pre-layoff outputs and hoping they don’t become Steve's next target. And all that is just scratching the surface. Damn this turned into a real rant. Anyways thanks for caring and actually looking into things. Folks working on Warframe and Wayfinder both really need that right now.

Yeah, there's less reason than ever before to play something like Stardew or Isaac or Hades on the Nintendo box where your save file is hostage to their system and you'll never be able to use mods and the developers have to outsource the patches to a third party so the game's always a couple months behind on the new features...

I'm saying that the pricing scheme Nintendo has for the S2 ecosystem is not conducive to pushing volume. This is evident to my other comment from talking to my local game store. Console demand is high, while games, accesories and controllers are not. If the average consumer's S2 library goes over 10 games average for the lifetime of the console, I'll be surprised unless pricing changes. The people who have purchased a S2 are holding back on other purchases that usually accompany that purchase. The people who haven't yet purchased and who will not purchase are likely aware of the prices as well. My rural local TV station ran 2 stories on price increases. Even if not all games are $80 each, the preconception is there for quite a few people that all S2 games are $80 each no matter if you've purchased a console or not.

It is not a monopoly. It’s not even a trust. A business being successful on it’s own merits, which does not engage in anti-competitive behavior, which even helps its competitors, is neither a trust nor monopolistic. Disliking something for no reason other than being popular is just being a contrarian. If Valve started behaving anti-competitively, particularly toward underdogs like GOG, the masses would turn on them like sharks in chum-filled water.

Copyright applies to unfinished works, too. There are many reasons it might not protect an unfinished work, but those reasons are still relevant even for finished works. If someone steals your physical drawing, that’s theft. If they take a picture of it, then use the picture - or your picture + modifications - without your permission, particularly in a commercial work, then that’s copyright infringement, but not theft. If they steal your physical drawing and then take a picture and so on, then it’s both theft and copyright infringement. Most likely this wasn’t considered copyright infringement because the allegedly copied art isn’t copyrightable, e.g., game mechanics; or the plaintiff didn’t own the copyrights themselves and thus couldn’t sue (possibly the arts were still copyrighted by the original artists, having never been purchased; possibly they were stock assets that were re-purchased by the defendant). There are any number of reasons. However, “the work wasn’t published” isn’t one of them. On the other hand, it’s quite likely they were able to sue for theft of trade secrets for that very reason. And they might have chosen to do that simply because proving copyright infringement is much more difficult.

I was really interested in VR after trying it a bunch of times and when Microsoft did their whole partnered VR headsets thing they failed so miserably I managed to get one for like $60 brand new. And then I realized it works well for like an hour tech demo and playing around in short bursts but otherwise is just a TV strapped to your face, hot and sweaty and kinda uncomfortable and your eyes kinda hurt after a while and the games kinda all sucked since no one had a sense of hardware capabilities... It's hyper niche and isn't really for everyone but how could companies argue against a TV strapped to your face.

This is very obviously a language barrier issue at play here that people are ignoring just to take what he said at face value. There’s zero chance that what he meant was the game was _too good_ and that as a result he wanted to _make it worse_. He almost certainly meant something more along the lines of the plot, or something to do with the game mechanics were too streamlined, or otherwise not challenging enough in some way.

The ideal outcome (that'll never happen) is a PS6 that *is* a PC. But shareholders would never go for tearing down a walled garden ecosystem.
