I really liked the art style, but for some reason a lot of recent games with that cell shaded style seem to think that they need to set the contrast to be negative and washout all the colors, which is almost the entire appeal of the art style. Zelda did it too, and I disliked it in that game too. Shame it was called Marathon though. Game had absolutely nothing to do with Marathon, and didn't even feature the Phor. Also shame it was a dead genre that the only people that like that genre play Tarkov and literally nothing else.

Perhaps they're hoping to stop people from going to linux for gaming. PC gaming has certainly not hurt their stranglehold on the top OS spot.

I don’t hate on anyone, I literally have some hardware from all of the major companies. It’s possible to have different opinions on different things they do. They are products of corporations that are so huge and internally disconnected that end result can be inconsistent so that’s just how things are. Of course all exist for profit so I rarely get angry with consequences of capitalism unless taken to extreme. Today’s Valve is scummiest of all, very little redeeming qualities and that’s my honest opinion, not being contrarian. It irks me doubly because they are so idolised. Valve monopolised PC digital storefronts. They don’t make games, they make digital casinos. They market those casinos to children. They have a history of abandoning things. The only reason they fund Wine development is to safeguard and entrench their monopoly even further. It was CodeWeavers and not Valve that sponsored Wine development through difficult times. In 10-15 years, if they are successful in their plans, they’ll turn SteamOS into something like modern day Android, another locked down platform with no major benefit to desktop Linux. I’ll be there with „told you so” but that actually gives me no kick.

if it's like psp and has separate library from the home consoles I think we are past that era. I'd like to see more steam deck like handhelds but with some other innovative kb/m input if not track pads. If sony were to make one the vendor lock in would take away from the appeal greatly though and modern console devs can barely target one graphics level.

? Did you play either of them because it sounds like you haven't and are claiming things you know nothing about. I was lucky enough to play Everywhere and I have been playing Mindseye (almost completed the story) Everywhere is in Mindseye, once you get to a certain point you can enter "build mode" which is what Everywhere was. You are able to build either in the open world of Mindseye or go into empty "Arks" (worlds) and build from scratch.

I'm used to imperfection. I just overlook it once I recognize it. I personally didnt like the whole book "nr 5". Generally the whole rape, child molestation and such theme was not for me. But all in all, I really like the theme otherwise. One of the most fleshed out stories I've encountered in years.

The GAAS crashouts are the modern equivalent. Shareholders were sold the idea of "our own Fortnite! Infinite money forever!". What they got was Concord. Anthem. Marathon. There'll still be cash-grab GAAS out there, but eventually investors are going to put it together that it's not a safe gamble. But unlike the ET "moment", *video games* as an industry, product, and art medium are here to stay. Making the things is too accessible now for the entire concept to ever be at risk again. The ET moment didn't just threaten Atari, it threatened the concept of home consoles. Trying to imagine a single steaming pile of shit or even industry trend "threatening video games" now is like imagining a movie so bad that it kills cinema. Even if every single shareholder-backed games studio got rugpulled tomorrow, there are plenty of other studios out there to pick up the slack.
