Drill to Stop Casting and Stay Connected - Antonelli BaseballWhen swinging, we want to keep our hands as close to our body as possible, but our natural impulse is to "throw" our hands at the ball. This slows our bat speed, robs us of power, and -- in baseball, at least -- pulls the bat off the plane of the pitch. This is a drill to help keep the hands in tight as you swing.

No one, and I mean NO ONE wanted to listen to us when we screamed at the top of our lungs that the emperor has no clothes...@mempko@fosstodon.org I'm watching this play out as researchers I'm in the halo of are actively banking on LLMs to eliminate the cost of hiring data labellers. Their reasoning is motivated by the fantasy of cost savings, not better results.
Watching them bend over backwards to excuse the LLM's middling success rate and to handwave away how it misses almost everything of actual interest to their research is embarrassing.

Set up NodeBB this morningSet up NodeBB this morning to kick the tires a bit, and I have to say, the reality of federation feels downright magical when seen inba medium that is traditionally small and fragmented. Watching my test posts show up on the NodeBB community forum, and then seeing my test replies show up back on this forum is surreal.
The ability to promote Mastodon posts to forum posts is super cool, too.
This thing has real potential. It's local first, but brings the wider fediverse into the small internet of the past. I see really great things for this form factor (forum factor?)!
