Right, but the companies are using the tariffs as cover for the price increases. Without the tariffs, they wouldn't be so brazen about it.

Due to new tariffs, many more physical game discs may “simply not get made” - Ars TechnicaI've been buying physical PS4 and PS5 games for a few years now, at consistently (and usually considerably) lower prices than their digital counterparts. You just have to look for sales. Walmart, GameStop, Best Buy and sometimes Amazon will always have games on sale at any given point. They regularly go (or I guess went, at this point) for $10-20. Same goes for Criterion Collection Blu-ray DVDs. Often 50% off or more. -
With cheat/game codes mostly gone, what do people use instead for their single-player games (that don't involve microtransactions)?Nah, just bring a pen and paper to the news stand and copy down cheats from "Tips and Tricks" magazine by hand. Did people actually call those numbers? We couldn't afford that shit. -
