@Arthur Copeland I’m not sure what this is commenting on, but it reminds me of the Cold-War-era suggestion that we stop giving missiles names like Peacekeeper or Minuteman, and call them something that will really scare the Russians. Like the Whoops.

Note 8 hits especially hard. I used to say I write for myself and nobody else, but it turns out that you don’t get much work done when your only audience already knows what you have to say.

I’m starting to feel like a statistical outlier for believing that building a military command center under a civilian hospital, and blowing up that hospital to get at that command center, are equally bad things. Not “necessary evils,” but indefensible acts. Nor can I see how anyone can disagree without believing that one civilian’s life is worth more than another’s.

So apparently Elon is officially out of the White House, and he’s taking Stephen Miller’s wife with him.

Washington seems to have gone full-on Julio-Claudian. Any time now I expect to read about how the entire Cabinet slept with Ivanka, whereupon Donald (played by Brian Blessed) had them put to death for treason.

Just rewatched “The Conversation” for the first time in nearly 30 years. I think. I’m pretty sure I saw it once before, even recall the circumstances I saw it under. I remember enjoying it a great deal, thought Gene Hackman was superb.

Only… while watching it tonight, I realized I had no memory of it at all. None. Not a single scene or character rang any bells. Surely I’d have remembered that Han Solo was in it, right? At the very least, I should have known what conversation the title was referring to. But it was like I was watching it for the first time.

So, either I didn’t see it like I thought I had (but then, what mid-70s Gene Hackman movie did I see back then?), or my brain is rotting inside my skull. Given the preponderance of supporting evidence collected over the years, I lean toward the latter.
